Welcome Marta our newest member

I'd love to hear from any of you if you are knitting gloves. Remember, you can also post to the blog yourself by signing into Blogger at http://www.blogger.com/ or you can email me anything you'd like posted. I'm at nanetteblanchard (at) earthlink (dot) net (remove parentheses and spaces).

Our newest member is Marta and I thought I'd introduce her by using her own words:

I would love to join this KAL... is it too late? I am Idlehands1969 on Ravelry.

I am using Mini Mochi in Color 103 Violets Rainbow. My pattern is Sock It To Me Gloves by Joan Beebe, SSKnits, found on Ravelry. Pictures attached.

I am using a basic pattern because this is my first time knitting gloves and I don't have tons of knitting experience, although I have crocheted for about 2 years now, and I am quite adventurous. I am interested in Fair Isle knitting gloves, but thought I better practice making basic gloves before I add stranding.

More Glove Patterns

Hello all! I recently found two lovely glove patterns to share with you.

The upcoming Holiday Gift Knits issue of Interweave Knits has these gorgeous Lace and Twist Gloves. They're knit in a bamboo blend.

I just found these lacy Norwegian Wedding Gloves from Piecework last year - it looks like a man is wearing them and I'm not sure if they're sized for women.

Kingdom Gloves in Knitty

Has anyone seen the lovely Kingdom Gloves in the summer issue of Knitty? I wish I had some more time but maybe I'll look around for some yarn to knit them in fall.

Is anyone out there still knitting gloves? I apologize for my infrequent postings as I've been busy working on a mitten booklet. I still do dream about knitting gloves on occasion and hope to get back to them soon. Please feel free to post your glove progress here! Also please welcome our newest members Meredith and Joy!

I posted this on my main blog as well but I know I've heard from several knitters over the past year asking where they could get the Japanese booklet for the Nordic gloves I knit in Nature Spun sport weight shown below. I didn't have a source then but fortunately you can buy the booklet HERE. They also provide some info on translating Japanese patterns.

Placitas Gloves

The Placitas Gloves are knit in 7 colors of Knitpicks' Palette - white and six shades of blue. They have a sore thumb gusset and rounded, contrasting fingertips and the design on the back of the hand is done in duplicate stitch. I need to get 6 shades of fingering weight purple wool so I can knit these again.

Put-it-all-together Gloves

Here are the Put-it-all-Together Gloves from the book Kristin Knits by Kristin Nicholas. They aren't for me because I don't find gloves this thick comfortable for my hands. I ended up doing the fingers on only two dpns because I was unable to keep 11-13 sts divided on 3 dpns without the needles falling out. They were a fast knit though - they only took me two days with most of one day going to all the duplicate stitch.

Here are my second pair of Red River Gloves - this time in brighter colors. The pattern has 2 sizes and has a sore thumb gusset, rounded fingertips, and a knitted hem. They are knit in 6 colors of Knitpicks' Palette.
